Frequently Asked Questions
There is no such thing as a silly question when planning a wedding! Here are some common questions asked by couples when planning their big day. Do you have other questions? Contact me and I would be happy to help!

How do we find out if you are available and the right fit for our wedding?
Go to the “Contact” tab on this website and complete the request for information form. I will be happy to confirm my availability and answer any questions you have. You will know after we chat whether I am the right fit for you too. If you wish to book me, we will process that together, with a deposit at the time of booking and the balance due before your wedding day. Easy!

Help! We want to personalize our ceremony but have no idea where to start.
Relax, you are in expert hands with me! We will start with my unique ceremony template. Some couples love this script, unchanged, others personalize it. I have been collecting ceremony resources over the years, including sample vow and ring exchanges, wedding readings and ceremonial elements. I will share these unique-to-me resources with you and, together, we will create the wedding of your dreams.

On average, how long are wedding ceremonies?
Most ceremonies are about twenty to thirty minutes long, depending on ceremony elements you wish to include.

Does the wedding ceremony package include the ceremony rehearsal?
No, the wedding ceremony package does not include the rehearsal. Planning a rehearsal is important, especially if you have a wedding ceremony with lots of moving parts. If you wish me to lead it, there is an additional $100 fee.

Are there any other costs we should be aware of?
I happily serve the GTA, to the north, east and west. If your wedding is planned outside my GTA service area, there may be an additional mileage charge. The location of your wedding may also involve parking charges. When we chat about your plans, I will let you know if these extra expenses might apply to your wedding.

Does the wedding ceremony fee include emergency back-up?
Yes, the ceremony fee includes emergency back-up. In the unforeseen event that I am suddenly unavailable, another expert Licenced Officiant would step in to ensure everything unfolds beautifully as planned.

Do you look after the marriage paperwork?
I look after all the paperwork except obtaining the Marriage Licence - that’s your job! Visit https://www.ontario.ca/page/getting-married for details about how to get your Marriage Licence. Once married, you can apply for the legal record of your marriage which is called the Certificate of Marriage. Details are on that site as well. We will walk through all these details together as we get ready for your big day.

When I got my Marriage Licence I was advised to ensure the person performing my marriage is an authorized Officiant. How do I do that?
Check online at https://www.ontario.ca/page/getting-married to access lists of Officiants who are registered to perform marriages in Ontario. You will find me listed under “Markham” and “Adeney - Sheila Kim.”
